Qatar Airways inaugurated the longest commercial flight in the world
Qatar Airways marked today a new record for the longest commercial flight: 16 hours and 40 minutes.
The Boeing 777 departed from Doha, Qatar and landed in Auckland, New Zealand after flying 9,031 miles (14,535 km). Until today’s flight, the longest non-stop had been an 8.823 miles Emirates flight.
It’s highly likely though that the record will be broken again next year: Singapore Airlines wants to resume its Singapore – New York JFK route, suspended in 2013. The flight will cover 9.534 miles (15.344 km).
